Enterobiasis is an intestinal parasitic infection caused by a roundworm (nematode): Enterobius vermicularis (formerly named Oxyuris vermicularis). It is very common in children aged 3 to 10 years and their close contacts. Transmission is human-to-human and is common within a family and community. Pinworm infection is often asymptomatic and the main presenting symptom is perianal itching, particularly at night, which contributes to contamination of the hands with pinworm eggs...
